Whittington Castle is the only community owned castle in the UK. With a rich history spanning 3000 years, there is always plenty happening at Whittington Castle. From live history events to ghost vigils, these glorious castles guarantee a fun day for the whole family!

Another wonderful and unusual example of local heritage here in Ostwestry is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Stunning local scenery, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a magnificent infrastructure that carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee. The 18-arched stone and cast iron design is a beautiful spot for exploring and taking in the views.

However, want to take a day trip a little further afield? Shropshire and North Wales are home to breathtaking sights and experiences including the tallest waterfall in Wales. If it’s fresh air you’re after and love a bit of exploring, there’s a world of walking and hiking opportunities around the area. So go on, get on out there!
