The Lion Quays Waterside Resort has just appointed Sumit Chakrabarty in the role of Head Chef as part of the investment being made into the Oswestry based business. This move is part of a series of new senior management changes following the appointment of a new CEO in January.

Nick Dulson, General Manager Lion Quays Resort, says “this is a very exciting time for the Lion Quays Resort and we are really looking forward to working with Sumit and his new team who will be cooking at both of our restaurants and will be responsible for all weddings and functions on site”.

Sumit Chakrabarty has an outstanding collection of awards and nominations and has come to Lion Quays Waterside Resort from a 4 star hotel in the Scottish Borders, where he and his team were nominated a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in May 2011. Other awards include Scottish Hotel Rising Star Chef of the Year and Best Chef’s Team 2010. The appointment of Sumit at Waterside resort includes three key members of his team.

Sumit has worked alongside award-winning Michelin Star chefs and restaurants including Gordon Ramsey at Claridges in London, Mark Sargeant, George Blanc on Carnival Cruise Lines Miami and was Charge Chef at the two Rosette Cameroon Restaurant at Hilton Glasgow.

Sumit says “I am very pleased to be joining the team and looking forward to producing food which reflects the quality of the facilities and service at Lion Quays Resort. I will be launching new menus in July with the introduction of some new dishes to complement the existing traditional home cooked food. I’m looking forward to making sure both of our Restaurants make their own mark in the gastronomic world.”

The Lion Quays Resort offers a relaxed ambience with facilities including a 5 star spa, member’s health club and a 4 star hotel with two restaurants, both open to the public for casual dining or formal dinner.

Lion Quays Waterside Resort was a finalist in the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce business awards for outstanding customer service and is part of the Shropshire Leisure Group which owns the Moreton Park Garden Centre and Lord Moreton public house and Hotel.
