INSPIRATIONAL MEMBER STORY … MARCH 2012

We’re proud of our Members here at Lion Quays Country Club, and are very pleased to see Sharon Bowen doing so well with her Marathon Training. We’d like to share Sharon’s story with you…

"The fitness team have designed me a short, running specific programme that fits with time my restraints and lifestyle. They give me so much advice on stretching, running techniques, nutrition and hydration. They say their focus is to keep me focused and injury free to run 26miles safely.

My advice to others is to never say never, be regular at the gym even if they are short workouts and to socialise whilst you are there. I always hated gyms and when I first joined I thought I would just use the pool but I have found this is not like a gym, it’s homely, friendly and sociable and that is why I like it.

My aim is to finish the marathon and I can’t wait to be running up the Mall, what a sense of achievement! I was born in London and to be running the Marathon in 2012 Olympic Year will be amazing. I can’t wait to see my 2 boys cheering me on at Tower Bridge the ½ way mark; my 2 girls are also running and will be waiting for me at the end. That’s unless my training goes really well!

This year one of my biggest dreams is about to become reality. I would never have considered it if I had not joined Lion Quays Country Club, it is true it has changed my life!"
